Happy 4th

I can think of no better way to celebrate Amreican independence than sharing with you the weirdest fireworks of the year.

First, a lot of these remind me of mid-80's Nintendo games in the best possible way (Wiry Hero!)

Second, it seems like China has bought a copy of Corel Draw, because the clip art usage is amazing (Shotgun Wedding!)

Third, sorry about the bad photos. The firework store was in the middle of a huge old-fashioned competition war with a giant tent right outside ("Don't shop in the tent! We've never been in a tent!", large speakers pointed at the other stand bellowed), and the owner asked me to not take any pictures because "we got something goin' on with the guys across the street". Fair enough.

Anyway, happy 4th of July, everyone! Except Steve who is an illegal alien.

I used to sell fireworks at a stand every summer for a few years in high school. It was always fun to see the new designs and names of each firework every year. You have a couple mainstays, but they usually are always changing. My favorite is still 'Space Monkey,' with a picture of said monkey launching in space. A cool name and nice packaging was half the battle to selling the things. Since I was a bit partial to Space Monkey I spent extra time selling them ;)

Dude, that is the BEST! I love those fireworks... they're wierd, but they very much fit America! And yes, Wiry hero DOES look like a Nintendo game, doesn't it?

I just want to thank you for having a site that degrades well when scripting is disabled.

How could you forget the infamous "Golden Shower"?

Most excellent fireworks. I found a few not mentioned here, but sadly the good ol' camera was back in the car, suffering from dead batteryitus.

Also, your camera is very good, it gets very clear pictures of even the small print and wrinkles in the paper. I need to get one that's worth a crap.
